Blockchain solution pilot for certification of green hydrogen

At Nobian, we believe that green hydrogen will play a key role in the energy transition. As a major supplier of certified green hydrogen, we understand the demand for a transparent and fully traceable certification process along the whole value chain.

Therefore, together with envia THERM GmbH and Siemens Energy we have started a pilot project to test Siemens Energy’s Clean Energy Certification solution based on blockchain technology. The pilot is running at Nobian’s chlor-alkali electrolysis plant in Bitterfeld, Germany, where we have been providing green hydrogen since 2021, as first certified chlor-alkali electrolysis plant in Germany.  
 
The pilot project fits perfectly with our industry 4.0 approach. It is also an important and highly innovative building block to realize our ambition to become one of the most sustainable chemical companies in Europe: In our sustainability program “Grow Greener Together”, we have pledged to become fully carbon-free by 2040, with 100% renewable energy. The blockchain based certification is part of our ambition to provide a green product portfolio.
