In 2025 Nobian reached a significant milestone by obtaining the ISCC PLUS certification for its entire chloromethane portfolio produced at Nobian’s Frankfurt site.  

The ISCC PLUS certification guarantees that our products are manufactured using renewable raw materials and adhere to strict environmental standards. The process involved rigorous auditing by an ISCC-recognized certifying body, which assessed and verified the use of renewable raw materials to produce low-carbon chloromethane products.  

Successful completion of this process confirms that our chloromethane products can be sustainably produced and have a product carbon footprint (PCF) of 30 to 57% lower compared to our conventional chloromethanes. Using renewable raw materials to produce methyl chloride, methylene chloride, chloroform and carbon tetra chloride, including their respective stabilizers with “ISCC Plus certification”, reduces the PCF of our products, and helps our customers achieve their environmental goals and Scope 3 emission reductions. 

Chloromethanes are used in various applications and market segments globally, including phamaceuticals, food,agro, surfactants, water treatment, building & construction, automotive, electronics & semiconductors next to refrigerants, fluoropolymers and silicones.
